Stash from Singapore International Jewellery Show 2009: Ammolite Cab

Alright, this cab is not really my purchase from the show.. but rather a gift from one of the store holders there because a group of my friends were so enthusiastic in buying the stuff from his store...

This piece has a nice play of colour( as you can see in the picture taken with flash), as well as an interesting shield shape!

Will be thinking what I can do with this!

Stash from Singapore International Jewellery Show 2009: Moonstone Ring

I do not normally wear rings with cabochons in them as they are kinda too "retro" looking for me...

But this piece really caught my eye when I was at the show!

I like the modern design of the setting, coupled with a good quality moonstone in setting which appears to be part of the ring contour.

Look at the beautiful blue sheen!

It's set in 925 silver, which means, I should get this plated soon..

Zebra Agate

This agate cab was bought pretty long ago...

It's alternate bands of black and white are just reminiscent of the zebra!

Not too sure if this is soaked in sugar solution and then heated to get a black colour!

The 'Crow' Agate

Why the crow?

Check out this piece of agate! Pay attention to the black area and do you see the outline of a crow, with its beak?
Mother Nature's beautiful painting in stone!

The 'eye' Agate

This is an interesting piece that I obtained some time back...

Actually, I cant remember where I got this piece from..

Its interesting in a sense that its translucent agate, with patches of black, like that of an eye.

Have not decided what to do with it too...

Think it would look nice as a centrepiece of a design!

Cat's Eye Opal

These is my favourite kind of stone... opal..

But it does not have the normal play of colour..

This cat's eye opal shows chatoyance... which is an eye effect on the stone...

As you can see from the pics, it shows, an open and close eye effect..

5 Colours of Jade

I am not a typical jade fan....



Bought this set depicting the 5 different colours of jade some time back from Kinokuniya.

Afghanistan Lapis Lazuli

Sky Blue Lapis Lazuli from an old mine in Afghanistan

Supposedly getting rarer and rarer in the mineral kingdom.. nice blue speckled with white calcite and brassy pyrite!

What more can one ask for?

Kunzite and carved amethyst
