Ear Rings get a new life...

Believe it or not, this pair of cufflinks used to be a pair of ear rings I bought from Metropolitan Museum of Art. Look at what it used to be here..

Arty Stash

My newest stash of the day comes from The Metropolitan Museum of Art New York!

Walked past the store today, and was attracted by the large words "Moving Out Sale"! It turns out that all Singapore outlets of the The Metropolitan Museum of Art New York will be closed soon with tomorrow, Wednesday 15/07/2009, the last day to grab some last minute deals!

I actually bought all these:

A pair of sterling silver spiral cufflinks with Javanese inspired designs!

A sterling silver Viking ring (this really looks like a tension ring setting at first glance)

and a pair of Apollo intaglio ear rings! You might be thinking.. that's strange.. why ear rings... truth is.. I will be turning this pair of ear rings into something else.. so stay tuned!

Hugo Boss Cufflinks

This is one of my favourite cufflinks.

Crafted out of brass, this pair of cufflinks from Hugo Boss eludes a kind of classy elegance through its display of spots on its metallic brassy surface. I bought this pair when I was in transit at Frankfurt Airport Duty Free on my way back to Singapore from New York in the middle of the year.

Rose Cut Diamond Cufflinks

Got this pair of 14k Rose cut diamonds cufflinks yesterday at the JewelFest 2008.

The rose cut was first introduced in the early to mid 1500s by jewelers experimenting with unique geometrical diamond shapes. The rose cut is unlike any other diamond cut – it has a completely different anatomy to its facets and planes. Rose cuts are flat bottomed without the distinctive tapering body; instead, the crown of the gem is elevated in a faceted dome where triangular facets mimic the progressively tighter spiral of a rose. As the between 3 and 24 facets come together they mirror the central focal point of a rose bud and offer a unique perspective of diamond beauty

I really like the antique enthic feel to it. It doesnt give the overly bling factor that normal cut diamonds have!

Agate cameo cufflinks

Collected my pair of custom made cufflinks today from Far East Gem and Jewellery.

Quote Wikipedia:
Cameo is a method of carving, or an item of jewellery or vessel made in this manner. It features a raised (positive) relief image; contrast with intaglio, which has a negative image.

This cameo is done in blue dyed agate, and features the view of a woman. I got it set in 18k gold and its really outstanding in the setting!

Also, I was given this cleaning cloth as well as a Hearts and Arrows loupe , which is commonly used to judge the cutting grade of diamonds.
