Opal specimen

A nice specimen of boulder opal from Australia..

Can take a look at the rich colours beneath the iron stone surface..
The reverse of the pebble reveals a nice bluish tone...I simply love opals..

Cat's Eye Opal

These is my favourite kind of stone... opal..

But it does not have the normal play of colour..

This cat's eye opal shows chatoyance... which is an eye effect on the stone...

As you can see from the pics, it shows, an open and close eye effect..

Opal mining!

Ever wondered what it is like to mine opal in Australia??

I found this series of videos on Youtube!

Sit back and enjoy...

Now you know why opals are so expensive? They are hard work to mine for!

Opal Inlaid Watch

Sometimes, the things you treasure the most might not be neccessary the most expensive!

I got this opal inlaid watch from Australia in 2006.

It has been my fave since... cos I love opals and it is quite seldom that you actually find opal in jewellery for guys!
Sad thing to note is that the local distributor for Pierre Cardin in Singapore no longer brings in watches.. and thus, the warranty is somehow limited!

Potch Opal

Ilove the colour on this piece of raw potch opal.

Potch opal refers to hydrated silicon dioxides without the play of colour.

Even without a play of colour, this raw piece of potch opal still has a beautiful greenish-blue.

Opal

Opals are one of my fave stones!!

I got this pendant, which is set in 925 silver, from Australia in 2006!

It's overall tones are blue, with bright flashes of greenish-blue!
