Black Obsidian Axe Head

This is crafted from Black Obsidian, which is a volcanic glass. Rather primitive looking, this axe head is pretty sharp.

One of the tools probably used by early Mankind!

Hey, thanks for visiting my site. Those stone and some stones on your previous posts are remarkable. Never seen such stones as those.

Umm, that is actually an arrowhead, and obsidian has been used to make them for thousands of years. Now, obsidian has been used to also make ax heads, as well as knives and other tools that need to be sharp, but your images are of an arrowhead.

On a sidenote, I always thought that obsidian was black in color, but evidently green obsidian can be found in Central America. I'm not sure if that is also true of South America.
